Letting Go

That moment you realize
you went and let go.
You didn’t anticipate it,
You didn’t fret.
That thing that occupied a pit in your gut for so long,
That thing you couldn’t imagine leaving behind.
That thing you thought you would drag into your old years.
Fell off at the curb,
You didn’t even notice.
Think for another moment,
Let it sit over there with all the other things.
Let it be as big as it was and as small as it is.
And notice the space it left in it’s wake.
There’s room to fill in with light, warm sun…
There’s now room to move on.
